Farewell 2020, Welcome 20201!

Farewell 2020, Welcome 2021

It’s time for a new chapter.

There’s no doubt, 2020 was a challenging year for all of humanity. Struggles ranged from minor to seemingly insurmountable, and it will leave an indelible mark on our psyches.

Personally, my year began with high hopes to finalize and perform the one-woman show I wrote about caring for my Mom, All the Cares in the World. I had planned to travel with it around the States, with a couple of international destinations beckoning. Then, well, you know what happened.

Instead, I basically cocooned for most of the year. I kept off social media but watched the news nonstop for weeks on end. Much of the year I felt exhausted and overwhelmed, praying everything and everyone I knew and loved was OK. I felt like I had dropped back two years to just after my Mom died.

However, due to the stoppage, I was able to step away from my play and view it from a new perspective. I’m now enhancing and improving the script, far beyond what I had expected. With everything I’m adding, it will probably be at least a year before I’m able to take it on the road live, but I should be able to do bits here and there in the meantime.

Other than my play, I felt at a loss for writing during most of the year. But as the months passed, creativity slowly crept back in. December was incredibly creative for me, with ideas for at least seven screenplays, a couple of stage plays, several songs and books banging on my brain. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to bring it all to life for you!

I also had the pleasure of meeting several amazingly talented TheaterMakers through Ken Davenport’s TheaterMakers Studio. I’ve learned so much from them in such a short time, building lots of new neurons and making new friends.

Many of my projects require teams to make them happen, so I’ve joined or head a few different masterminds. They stretch my knowledge further with every meeting.

And, the year ended with two of my poems being published in the anthology, Startled by Nature 2020, by Gabriel’s Horn Press. I invite you to purchase the book and enjoy the incredible beautiful poetry.

I’ve set a couple of supersized goals for 2021 and I’ll be happy to share them with you once I’ve reached them. Last year brought me perspective in so many ways, and now I have more clarity on what I plan to accomplish this year.

With that in mind, I’d better get to work!

Write on!
